Commemorative coinage
En 1972, el Directorio del Banco Central de Venezuela recomienda al Ejecutivo Nacional, la acuñación de monedas conmemorativas, la cual no estaba contemplada en la vigente ley de Monedas. En 1974 se aprueba la Ley del Banco Central de Venezuela donde en sus artículos 74 y 75 autorizan al Banco Central para acuñar monedas con fines numismáticos, conmemorativos o de otro carácter.
