Time of the Great Colombia (1821-1830)

During the period from 1821 to 1830 that lasted the Gran Colombia (Federation of Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela), was coined in Bogota and Popayan gold coins.

A few days after the battle of Carabobo, July 5, at his headquarters in Caracas, Bolivar issued a decree prohibiting the movement of “copper coin with the name sign, introduced in Venezuela by the Spanish Government”.

The Mint of Caracas was immediately active.
